Contents: Virginia in 1700, colonial vessels, pirate rules and customs, early piracy, piracy at Tindall's Point, education and piracy, pirate captain and pirate surgeon, to the South Seas, the "Alexander", La Paix, trials at Elizabeth city County, William Howard, Blackbeard the Pirate, Blackbeard surrenders, Blackbeard meets his match, Good Captain Knott, conclusion, bibliography. With three reproductions of maps of Virginia from the 1700s, plus 9 illustrations, including frontispiece showing a public gaol at Williamsburg, Virginia, plus horrid massacre of the officers of the George by pirates, title page of Johnson's History of Pyrates , pirates "killing" the crew of a vessel, Blackbeard and Maynard fighting on board the King's Vessel with Maynard's crew coming out of the hold to join the engagement, and others. Hardcover, 139 pages. Good condition - with white numbers at the bottom of the spine, former owner's bookplate on endpaper showing it was once a library contest prize. Number stamped at top of the map endpaper.
