Magnificient Swiss ''Black Forest'' rare carved bear hall stand circa 1880, possibly executed by Louis Meichtry Brienz. Finely carved figures depicting a mama bear with glass eyes, standing by as two playful bear cubs climb the limbs above her. The stand has outstretched branches serving as garment hooks. Measurements are 89''h x 26''w x 20''d (approximately). Three bears measure 11", 15", 30". There are five (5) hooks which all are removable (screw type). One stump is missing a hook. The five hooks are 6.5", 9.5", two (2) 12", 16". The stumps which accept the screw-type hooks are between 3" to 5" in length. The umbrella section on the bottom measures approximately 10.5" x 7.25". This hall tree comes apart in two (2) sections. The top section, without the hooks is 40" high and the bottom section is 38" high.
